Well I don’t know about all the workings on the garmin.. No the software is not bundled with the gps3.. Now garmin does have good software but expensive.. Since I already had street atlas I use it.. Plus only cost was about 45 bucks.. You can download and upload the waypoints/tracks/routes to the lib but as far as displaying the screen I don’t think it will work.. You can actually watch the data stream in hyperterm connecting to the com you have built for the rs232 port.. Best source for GPS info is http://joe.mehaffey.com/ it is the most complete site I have found. And most of the other sites point to this one.. So I'm assuming the Garmin GPS III comes with software that allows you to create these "waypoints/routes/tracks" on the Lib, and then upload them to the handheld.... no? >You can actually use a program >called gtowin to take snap shots of the face.. So not only can you upload data as you mentioned... you can download from the Garmin too. But you can only download these "snap shots" of the handheld display... yes? These's no other kinds of data that can go from the handheld to the Lib, right? I wonder if other gps handhelds have the capability of displaying their maps on the Lib.
