Unfortunately, for >8.4GB HDs, that goes right out the window as I've seen, BUT at least we can all say for certain that the hibernation data will be placed on the HD around the 1024 cylinder area. The funky >1024 hibernation data being written to the HD on my Libretto with EZ-BIOS 9.06 installed is probably one of those stange math things that occur when you have large HDs, BIOS overlay program and the Libretto BIOS trying to act in concert. In any case, the =best= and =only= way I'd recommend anyone creating partitions on a >8.4GB HD on <=L110 models is to 1) wipe the entire, free/unused HD space to 0's after installing a disk manager or win2k/xp/linux, followed by 2) hardware hibernation to disk and restart 3) walking through the disk sectors by hand around the 1024 cylinder boundary until you've correctly determined the extent of the hibernation area, then add a few more empty/unused cylinders on both ends just in case the hibernation data creeps a bit more. Keep in mind that if you add RAM later, you'll have to expand this unused hibernation area. Partition around that area (partition magic and ranish partition manager will let you see exactly where the partitons begin and end) and you'll be fine like me. -- It's too bad the Libretto <=L110 BIOS hasn't been updated for >8.4GB HDs, but then again, they haven't been made for years. It certainly would be nice to have that as well as boot from PCMCIA device, but guess we'll just have to deal with what we've got.
