[T2] Update .. I tried all ways to 'see' what was causing the problems with no luck. I then looked in Device Mangler and saw the (predicted) device error for the Adaptec Parallel port adapter that wasn't plugged in at that moment. I simply disabled it and reboot ... all sorted! [T] Hmm, can't see I've seen that myself ..I train IT and often watch 8 delegates install, say W98 on 8 identical machines and end up with 8 identical installations (assuming they have all done what they were asked!). > > > I'm still trying to figure out why a HDD with W98 will boot fine with my > combo modem & Toshiba power saving drivers installed on my 50CT, but put it > in the 70CT, and the system shuts down halfway through boot. [T] Well, as you know I'm only a newbie but I know the 50 and 70 are 'different' and therefore 'anything' could happen? > Don't install > one or the other of those 2 drivers, and all's well on the 70CT. [T] I had 'similar' with a PCMCIA SR Worldport modem ... windows detects the modem, assigns it as a 'Windows Std Modem' and it all works ok. Update the drivers with the correct ones for that product and it all locks up? > > > Matt [T] Cheers again Matt ... at looks like 98 is settling down ok now ... just only got 100M free so still looking for a 'slightly' bigger 8.45mm drive (even a 2.1G would be fine?) so if you spot one anywhere ..
