Hey all, I have a USB 2.0 card running with absolutely NO problems in my Libretto 100ct. It is a Chronos (I am not sure if they sell them in the UK or US). I bought it for R420 (about R10 to the Euro and Dollar, so I guess it will cost under US$40). It runs under both Windows 98 and XP as an NEC USB 2.0 Hub. In fact it runs better on 98 than XP, but it is fine on both. It has two USB 2.0 ports and protrudes from the PCMCIA slot (much like the PCMCIA adaptor on the Libretto floppy disk drive) so it has to be placed in the top PCMCIA slot if one wants to use another PCMCIA card. With my overclocked CT100 I prefer to put it in the bottom slot though, just to keep the heat down, and rather don't use any other cards at the same time. It has an external power supply, which is a bit of a drag! Although the card is detected without the power source plugged in, it will only work when I have power on it. I use it to connect my Aopen ultra slim external CD Rewriter, my Sony Cubershot U-10 digital camera and a 6 in 1 memory card reader (reads and writes 6 different types of memory card from Memory stick through to Compact Flash). BTW, an off topic request. I have just got a CF Nokia connectivity Bluetooth kit. It works like a charm in my Libby (I can connect to all sorts of Bluetooth devices using the CF card in it's PCMCIA adaptor). However, I have seen on the net that I could use the CF card in my Pocket PC by using the Bluetooth driver from Socket Communications. The driver is to be found at ftp.socketcom.com/bluetooth/BTC120e.exe or ftp.socketcom.com/bluetooth/BTCE120Eeng.exe . I have tried and tried to download this driver file from the site above to no avail. I get timed out every time! Frustrating! We often have problems getting stuff from across the globe down here in South Africa. I wonder if anyone, 'on that side of the pond', would be willing to download either of these files for me (by anonymous FTP) and either post it for me to download somewhere or e-mail it to me directly - it is about 4.5MB.
