You don't heat and pull, you heat and apply desoldering braid to pull all the solder away from the joint. Do that on both sides, and you should be able to touch it with the iron and lift it easily with a pin/needle.
I take it that this isn't like threading a fat resistor all the way through a circuit board like back in the Mesozoic age huh? The lead must not go deep into the board, and isn't very tightly fitted. Hmmm... I had a cuircuit board around there I was going to experiment on. Anyone have a use for the innards of an old Tosh Satellite monitor? I took my brother's broken one to see what was inside a few months back. Quite interesting, and entertaining. :-)
