Another option is to have > a UIN for work and another for home. The latter doesn't seem to be quite usable to me, as it's the idea of a UIN to identify me, no matter where I am. (At least that's how I think about it.) Logging into the machine via SSH might or migh not work. Considering client-machines on a company network, they probably don't have an SSH daemon up and running, and even if they would have, DHCP is often used to get the IP address - so one would have to find out this first, etc. ... If the client only stops re-connecting if the UIN has been taken by sbd. else, that's a perfectly useful and fine patch I've been waiting for: It doesn't change anything else except for the behaviour in this special case, which definitely is an improvement. I haven't installed the patch yet (and I'm hoping it gets included upstream), and according to Thomas the patch add's another option to the preferences? One might consider simply changing LICQ's behaviour without adding another option, to keep things more simple. Nevertheless, please include this functionality in the default version! :) Cheers, Max -- The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. <Cpt.
