That would probably be the nicest way, then for those who don't want it to 
reconnect they can just set the timeout to zero.  Or they can set it to 
something like eight hours, so they'll eventually reconnect without it being 
annoying.

The only problem with doing this is you have to strike a balance between how 
often it reconnects and how long you're willing to appear offline to others 
(e.g. reconnecting every ten seconds would be very annoying, but if you only 
reconnect once every eight hours you could be offline for over seven hours at 
a time.)

It is probably the best way of implementing this feature though, I can't 
really think of a method to make it perfect (i.e. reconnecting as soon as 
another client goes offline) short of implementing an ICQ "proxy server" to 
handle it instead ;-)
