I think Bob Mason has an excellent idea. And I would never pass a bike with
only 4" clearance. I have seen a cyclist who couldn't unclip her left foot
fall right into the street. Luckily no cars. I'm super pro bike but I would
prefer bike specific areas for riders for their sake and mine. (I used to
ride a lot but have given it up because it's not safe.)
