It sounds as if you did an Insert->OLE Object to get them into the cast.
Try File->Import and select Media: "Link to External File" in the dialog box.
member("jpeg").fileName = "URLtoJPEG"
I didn't test this in SW, but it might work. You might need to
"preLoadNetThing" and "importFileInto" instead.
