Found it!
In the director (7.02) online help, and of all places - "Previewing a Movie
in a Browser" (? not "Creating Shockwave movies"?)
It states that "for security reasons" linked media will not be visible in
the shocked movie, unless the whole thing is movied to the dswmedia folder
in the shockwave player (which on the PC is located in
Windows->System->Macromedia)
Cumbersome, very cumbersome!
(Now proceeding to test it)
