Hey Chad Mefford and Others-
Had a problem with a little program that was designed to run minimized
most of the time- it was taking all of the CPU cycles it could get- using
100% resources. Checked out "idleHandlerPeriod" and set it lower than it's
default. (It's default is to receive idle messages as often as possible,
which obviously was eating processor) Play with that and see if you can get
less than 100% usage. Of course, this depends on what you're doing. Our
little program just sat there most of the time. We did some tests for
performance vs. CPU usage and found a happy medium. Also, we weren't
concerned with idleLoadTag or any of that stuff- not sure how setting this
would affect those processes.
example:
on startMovie
--once per second (60 ticks)
the idleHandlerPeriod = 60
end startMovie
on idle
nothing
end idle
--samn--
boom-sha-lacka-lacka-boom
('scuse me miramar, but i wish
you were someone else)
