Mark,

That's exactly where I am at. I found documents on redhat's website
for adding the QDIO OCO code to the initrd.img file. I just downloaded
the IBM OCO from their website. I guess I'll have to
burn another CD or try to load from the HMC via FTP. Let me work
through that process first, and see what happens. Too bad RH doesnt
have install support built-in for this like SuSE does.....their install
when
MUCH smoother.

Dave

Dave,

What are the sizes and dates of the files pointed to by the redhat.ins
file?
If I have similar versions, I can perhaps help you figure out just what
might be happening. (It will involve copying the initrd file to one of
your
SuSE images, and mounting it on the loopback device so you can look at the
startup scripts, etc.)

Subject: RH 7.2 LPAR install - HELP

All,

I just received RH 7.2 for s/390. I'm trying to install into an LPAR
using
the LOAD from CD option on the HMC. I'm having a hard time
configuring the GbE OSA adapter on eth0 in QDIO mode. I'm prompted for
the
card addresses, and I enter 0xF400,0xF401,0xF402. I get an error
message that says ERROR unknown verb, enter man chandev.

Well, since this is my first RH system, I can't do that yet. Does the
IPLable
CD have the necessary drivers available for OSA-E cards? If so, the
install
doc is VERY limited, and since this is an evaluation copy, I have no
support available.

Any hints, tips, pointers about the initial install would be appreciated.
BTW,
I already have a couple of LPARs with SuSE running on it, so I know that
the hardware is working ok.

Thanks, Dave
