Jim,
Do you have a Linux or UNIX system available there? If so, what I recommend
you do is this...
Take the initrd file from the SuSE distribution and copy it to the Linux
system.
Uncompress it:
cat initrd | gzip -d > initrd.out
Mount initrd.out on the loopback device.
cd to the /mountpoint/bin/ directory
Edit the netsetup file, and insert this near the top:
set -x
Save the change and exit.
Unmount the initrd.out from the loopback device.
Recompress the initrd again
cat initrd.out | gzip > initrd
Try the install again.
You should see a bunch of messages from the script as it executes. You may
not have access to a printer from the HCM, but you should be able to take
screen captures and save them to files for later review. Perhaps we can see
just what command is failing to work as expected and fix it via a similar
method.

I thought of that too. Just finished trying it. Didn't change anything. I
do see messages about a partially successful config involving 832,833...
but I didn't write them down. I can do that and see if it sheds any light.
I WISH TO GOD our HMC was connected to a printer.
