Yep, Same here. It looks like the IBM OCO code is not included in
INITRD.IMG. There are instructions on how to modify this to include
the QETH.O, and QDIO.O modules, which I have done, but now have
to find a CD burner to burn a new bootable CD. The instructions are
at:

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.2-Manual/release-notes/s390/RELEASE-NOTES

all the way to the bottom.

I am getting something similar for RH 7.2 attempting to use eth0

First question of relevance:

Please enter the network device you intend to use (e.g. ctc0, escon0,
iucv0,eth0,hsi0,tr0)

>---- my reply: eth0

Second question where the thing seems to go to hell:

Please enter parameters you need to pass to the channel device layer
this includes I/O ports of your ctc, escon, qeth, hsi and lcs devices
Additional parameters for QETH devices such as port name should be
entered at the next prompt, not here
(e.g. "ctc0,0x600,0x601" will activate the ctc0 interface at I/O ports
0x600,0x601)

>---- my reply: eth0,0x832,0x833

The error:

chandev_setup unknown verb eth0,0x832,0x833 on line no 1 interpreted as
eth0,0x832,0x833

It then asks for my IP setup, (address, netmask, broadcast, gateway,
network address etc) but eth0 fails to get created.

>------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

All,

I just received RH 7.2 for s/390. I'm trying to install into an LPAR
using
the LOAD from CD option on the HMC. I'm having a hard time
configuring the GbE OSA adapter on eth0 in QDIO mode. I'm prompted for
the
card addresses, and I enter 0xF400,0xF401,0xF402. I get an error
message that says ERROR unknown verb, enter man chandev.

Well, since this is my first RH system, I can't do that yet. Does the
IPLable
CD have the necessary drivers available for OSA-E cards? If so, the
install
doc is VERY limited, and since this is an evaluation copy, I have no
support available.

Any hints, tips, pointers about the initial install would be appreciated.
BTW,
I already have a couple of LPARs with SuSE running on it, so I know that
the hardware is working ok.

Thanks, Dave
