In another post, you said this is an ENTR OSA.  Give the following a try,
as your OSA will use the LCS driver (not QETH) which means you should not
have to modify the RH installation initrd.

Try "lcs0,0x832,0x833" and see what happens.

I can't guarantee, however, that you won't get the same weirdness with the
logical/physical port numbering that you're experiencing with SuSE 7.2...
