Easy, folks. No offense taken. I've been vilified by pros. This wasn't all that harsh. I'm demonstratably machine washable (warm water, please!) and air dry. My label says so. Really. 8-)
Anton, as a service provider (as are many others here), I see a lot of different situations and different ways people use stuff. I thought you might appreciate a view across different customer situations, ie not viewed through the rose window of one single set of customer requirements. If not, ignore it. After all, what did you pay for it? As to direct contact, my customers may not choose -- or may not be permitted -- to share their information; you're dealing with details that they may consider competitive elements, and some of us (or our employers) take confidentiality very seriously. Your question asked whether anyone was using MySQL for significant volumes of data, and what their experience with it was. You got a filtered version of that experience consistent with what I'm able to tell you. For free. An observation (also for free): if you're not interested in opinions from people who work for vendors, ISVs, service providers or distributors, you may be very lonely here. We use this technology, too. We often end up figuring out how to use stuff for other people -- many like yourself. With few exceptions, the ground rules here are that nobody's trying to sell you anything other than a common belief that we're all in this together, and we all don't need to shoot the same holes in our feet, even our direct competitors. Regardless of who's speaking, shared trouble is trouble avoided, shared knowledge is knowledge increased, shared success is success multiplied. Think about that. It may help you understand why people are reacting to your post in the way they have. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
