Hi there,
I gave my server a static ip and also added the appropriate entry in the
/etc/hosts
so now when I restart samba, it gives the status of nmb server and samba
server stop as ok, and then both the smb services and nmb services
starting ok. this solved.
But when I do smbstatus I get the message: Couldn't open status file
/var/lock/samba/STATUS..LCK . how do i resolve this?
The server is also not visible on the Network Neighbourhood of M$ Win xx
machines. Any pointers to that.

regards,
sanvir
