Acutally there is no file such as STATUS.LCK or STATUS..LCK in
/var/spool/samba/
However it above directory contains the following
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root          213 Apr 27 17:54 browse.dat
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root           20 Apr 27 17:32 nmbd.pid
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root           20 Apr 27 17:32 smbd.pid

the time is wrong I know, don't worry about it.

I have also made the following entries in the share section of smb.conf
[homes]
    comment = Home Directories
    browseable = no
    writable = yes
    create mask = 700
    public = no
    only user = yes

Hope this is a relevant info.

regards,
sanvir
