HI
I have now given my macine a static Ip and so removed it as a DHCP
client, also added the enteries in /etc/hosts.
Now the nmb as well as smb services are running ok, also the m/c is
visble in the network Neighbourhood of M$ Win xx machines.
But when I rum smbstatus I receive
Couldn't open status file /var/lock/samba/STATUS..LCK
Also the shares I have created e.g. the home directories do not appear
on the NN. I have also set the smbpasswd for the user,
the user id and passwd is the same as in M$ Win xx. When I click on the
server on the NN I get m/c is not accessible. network error has occured.
Any pointers to resolve this are more than welcome.

TIA
regards,
sanvir
