Hi Jorge
In /etc/host.conf, do you have "order hosts,bind" to ensure that
you look at the hosts file first?
In /etc/resolv.conf - do you have "search ampr.org" (assuming this is
the default domain you wish to resolve).
Just a couple of thoughts...
