Agreed. I don't think a web front end would be fast enough for
contesting.

That will require a lot of design work on the database, but I think it
is well worth the effort.

Well, I'm a hardware designer fresh enough out of university to still
remember database design (I think so, anyway :-)

Now I'm inspired to start coding. The more I think about it, the more
I like the web interface, because it simplifies the UI design so much.
(No need to do battle with any windowing toolkit; just generate HTML
and let the browser worry about rendering it.)

Some things will be challenging to implement. Radio control, for example.
Certainly possible, but not as easy to link in perhaps using the web
method. Lots of Javascript or Java perhaps. DX cluster support might also
be challenging.
