If you ask me the original Tux by Larry Ewing does not resemble a penguin
much. It's more of a cross between a penguin and a duck. But I like it
anyway - even very much.
So because of the broad definition of a penguin in the Linux world, your
original design is actually a penguin, too. ;-)
In any case, I think the Tux/Penguin motif has been used to death. There
are games featuring Tux, and the poor bird appears in many symbols and
icons. Projects are named after it, too. (TuxRacer, Tux, Tux2, I could go
on). Can't people be a little original and choose a different animal? (or
a human being, for change).
This reminds me that one of my sisters completely dislikes animals. All
animals. It's a common paradigm that every person likes either dogs or
cats, and some like both, but she hates them, as well as any other species
out there.
