Ok, I was under the impression that their changes were reversible
using the same package (and I'm still not sure that they aren't..)

I don't think it's an issue now either, for the reasons already
brought forward in this thread.

Neither did I, but that wasn't the point. My point was that their
decision is *imho* fully justified, because of the reasons he brought
forward, and what the KDE team thinks about it is not really of
essence in this case. 

To give an analogy, you don't see Linus (or anyone else from the
kernel team) complaining about the heavily modified kernel redhat
ships, do you? It's their choice.
