if u have windows keep the windows partition at say 2 gb. then the next partition of 
about 50-100mb (safe margin).... mount it as /boot
then create as big a partition as u wish... mount it as / or whatever is ur wish. shud 
work. problem is with lilo refusing to recognise more than 1024 cylinders...
