Yes, if u have X configured - under GNOME popup menu (the one on the taskbar
with the foot mark;-) - Settings - peripherals - cd properties - enable the
automount option.

If you are using KDE - an icon will already be on your desktop for CD -
mounts the CD when you click on it.
