Hi Mario,

check your /etc/resolv.conf file. It should contain the entries for the name servers.

nameserver 210.212.161.26

However with this goatelecom server sometimes I have noticed the thing about which you
are referring to. I am using wvdial and even after connecting properly I can not ping.
When I scan through the /var/log/messages I get the messages that some communication
is going on with the server however the server is not responding and hence after some
time wvdial disconnects. Mind you all this thing happens after I put password, am
assigned an IP and then junk characters come too. :-)

Sometimes funny thing happen, specially with our goatelecom server. The connectivity
has been poor.

In case of any further help don't hesitate to get back to the list.

Hope this helps.

Rajesh
