try using ppp-on /wvdial script to connect or (kppp from X)
the ppp-on scripts are found in /usr/doc/scripts
cp /usr/doc/scripts/pp* /etc/ppp
after copying the script
edit ppp-on
TELEPHONE=172222
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
PASSWORD=ur passwd
LOCAL_IP=0.0.0.0
REMOTE_IP=0.0.0.0
exec /usr/sbin/pppd debug lock modem crtscts /dev/ttyS0 or S1 38400 \
asyncmap 20A0000 escape FF kdebug 0 $LOCAL_IP:$REMOTE_IP \
noipdefault netmask $NETMASK defaultroute connect $DIALER_SCRIPT
next change the ppp-on-dialer
pico ppp-on-dialer
the last 2 lines should be like these
sername: $ACCOUNT \
assword: $PASSWORD
chmod the ppp* files to to excute
and then run ppp-on to connect to net
incase you need to use see the log
type tail -f /var/log/messages
