I am using XFree 4 without any problems on Debian :-)

Not tried with the default kernel given with the distro though. I am on
Kernel 2.4.1 compiled on my machine with agpgart support (i810). There
is option for agpgart module support.

In my .config file the relevant section is :
---------------------------------------------------
#
# Ftape, the floppy tape device driver
#
# CONFIG_FTAPE is not set
CONFIG_AGP=m
# CONFIG_AGP_INTEL is not set
CONFIG_AGP_I810=y
# CONFIG_AGP_VIA is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_AMD is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_SIS is not set
# CONFIG_AGP_ALI is not set
CONFIG_DRM=y
# CONFIG_DRM_TDFX is not set
# CONFIG_DRM_GAMMA is not set
# CONFIG_DRM_R128 is not set
CONFIG_DRM_I810=m
# CONFIG_DRM_MGA is not set
CONFIG_PCMCIA_SERIAL=y
---------------------------------------------------

Select character devices option after doing make menuconfig. You will find
all the i810 and agpgart options there.

Hope this helps.

Regards
