I would stay about a couple of thousand feet away from Dishnet. They are one of the most dishonest & unethical companies I have come across. It is very unlikely that you will get a static ip for the cost that you are talking about. Their modems also do not support linux. So you will have to switch to windows. I have been using a dishnet dsl 64 kbps line in my office for about 6 months now. It has been nothing but trouble. They promised us a certain amount would be deducted if the line was down for an unreasonable amount of time. We are yet to see that amount for even though our connection has been down daily for 2-4 hours. The customer support is pits. The modems that they give are very bad. They are a very compact design which overheat after a few hours. That is because there are no vents for heat dissipation. We have designed our own rudimentary cooling system which involves a metal stand acting like a heat sink and a small hanky which is periodically moistened. The problems still continue though. The only reason we are still sticking to them is that there is no other broadband provider in our area & it still works out cheaper than dial up. But I have heard that Hughes is also launching dsl. As soon as they do Dishnet will be shown the door. So please don't repeat my mistake. Bye, Amol Gokhale __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
