It seems most of them have been backported from the 2.5 branch and possibly not ported to the standard distribution. Most of the patches might be separately available for the 2.4 kernel. If you dont need any of the features given above and just want to able to use your 16GB RAM you could possibly stick to the standard distribution which has a kernel-bigmem for > 4GB RAM support.
