Hi The moment you get connect to internet do the following :
1) Give command "route -n" and see whether default gateway is been taken and it is showing there or not. 2) Try to ping any site like "ping www.yahoo.com", if get response you should be able to browse. 3) Check the KPP details n see the traffic graph. 4) See if any proxy configuration is there in your browser or not. 5) DO you have a network card in your PC or just Modem card/external modem. If the network card is present don't give any ip address just make it DHCP compatible. 6) after connecting to internet check whether you get some entry in /etc/resolv.conf or not.
