Hi,
Does anyone have the tar file for wwwthreads 3.5 or 3.5.1. I'm
interested in porting this to PHP for use on linux and freebsd machines.
The author recently changed the license from the GPL to a commercial one
and a limited non-freely distributable "free" version. I believe either
3.5 or 3.5.1 is the last version available under the GPL.
Thanks,

Hi all

I bought my new pc about a month ago:

PII 350

64 MB RAM

2.4 GB hard drive

and have just installed RH6. I am, however, having major problems

installing my printer which is a Lexmark 3200. I can't seem to find a decent

driver anywhere and I can't use it with drivers for other printers.

Can anyone tell me where to find a driver or atleast how to write one in C/C++?

Thanks alot

Michael

Ive got a question. What is so different in the way sound is handled
between RH 5.2 and 6.0????? I installed realplayer on RH 5.2 and it
worked fine. I did the same after I upgraded to RH 6.0 and the
realplayer loads but there is no sound.

I sent a bug report to Realplayer and they said that the problem is in
how RH6.0 handles the sound differently. They had not made a fix for it.

How is the sound handled differently and will realplayer ever work with
RH 6.0??????

$ rpm -q samba
samba-2.0.3-8
$ smbmount "//machine_name/c" "password" -I host -c "mount
/mnt/mount_point"

Where machine_name is the smb name of your NT box,
c is the shared-resource you want to mount,
password is the password,
host is the dns name (or ip address ?) of the nt box,
and /mnt/mount_point is where you want it mounted.

Keep an eye on /var/log/samba/smb.log and nmb.log if you have trouble

This problem is described on the RedHat errata page.

Check it out - another problem than just the plugin is also described.

There are HOWTO or other docs concerning serial consoles I
believe. You could then run the serial line to another
box which has dialup access. Using a serial terminal program
like "minicom", you should be able to do what you describe.

Hi,

Check the permissions on /dev/zero. Weird stuff happens when /dev/null
or /dev/zero aren't world writable.

From: "Charles Sullivan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: Re: Win98 partition mounted, not writable
Date: Sat, 26 Jun 1999 13:09:16 -0400

I have the following in my /etc/fstab file and I can read and write just
fine.
The Win98 partition (/dosc) is automatically mounted at boot time.

/dev/hda1 /dosc vfat rw,suid,umask=000,noexec,quiet 1 1

'umask=000' allows R/W by anyone - turns on all permissions.
'noexec' turns off execute permission for ordinary files but leaves it on
for
directories (which is required to cd into them).
'quiet' eliminates Linux's complaint when it unsuccessfully tries to set
nonexistant permissions when writing a file to the Win98 partition.
(It's be nice if we didn't have to use this - I'm always reluctant to
suppress
potentially valid error messages.)
'suid' - I don't know about this, but I stuck it in there when I was
originally
faced with your problem and never tried taking it out.
I don't know if the "1 1" is required, but have had no problem with it.

I believe when you run the lilo command (/sbin/lilo) it reads the
/boot/message file (assuming you've got message=/boot/message in
/etc/lilo.conf) and

According to man LILO.CONF(5):
"The map file has to be rebuilt if the message file is changed or
moved."

Also, "changing the timeout from 100 to 200", you're doing that in
/etc/lilo.conf, right ? not /boot/message.

Hi

I'm wasn't sure which was the appropriate group to post for this problem
so I chose a selection, sorry if its in the wrong one. (Also appologies
if this problem has been raised before).

I've tried to compile kernel 2.2.10 on a base slackware 3.6 system (2.0.35
and gcc 2.7.2.3) but I get the following compilation error:

:
:
make all_targets
make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.2.10/arch/i386/lib'
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux-2.2.10/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2

This to me looks like a compiler bug as the function on line 105 is
csum_partial_copy_fromuser() but on 200 its csum_partial_copy().

Has anyone else come across this problem and is there a way around it (short
of the nightmare process of downloading and installing a new compiler)?

Thanks for any help

This is probably the most frequently asked question on the newsgroup.
All you have to do is type ./run instead of just run. This forces the shell

(The current path is not checked normally in Linux for security reasons)

I tried compiling snes9x (a super nintendo emulator) and got the same
error. Looked through the Linux source tree and found the member to
be called __fds_bits. (with 2 underscores in front). Changed this in
the snes9x source and it compiled and worked fine.
