This is the monthly report from the Linux Usage Counter.
It is posted on the 1st of every month on the newsgroup
comp.os.linux.misc
Registration and information is available via the World
Wide Web; connect to URL http://counter.li.org/
This is the preferred interface to the counter.
NOTE: You can UPDATE your record in the counter if you have
your registration key, which was sent to you when you registered.
EMAIL:
To enter your registration into the statistics, send an E-mail to
[EMAIL PROTECTED], with the SUBJECT line being one of
I use Linux at home
I use Linux at work
I use Linux at school
The reply will contain information about how to register more
information about yourself, your machine and your friends, if you
want to.
If you can't do Web, you can get the reports by sending the counter
an E-mail containing in the BODY one of the lines

Good luck!
=================================================================
This is the Linux Counter summary as of Wed Jun 30 17:42:10 1999
There are 105545 persons registerd.
3033 users have been registered by friends.
There are 57427 machines registered.
I guesstimate that between 0.2% and 5% of all Linux users have
registered with the Linux Counter.
So the total number of Linux users is probably between
2,110,900 and 52,772,500 people.

Don't do that. Don't try to send any binary file to your terminal,
for that matter. You end up freaking it out with control characters.
It's a Redhat system. Did you not think to look at the copious
Redhat documentation? http://www.redhat.com
I already know the answer, but I entered "garbled terminal" into
the search field. Lo and behold, the answer pops right up.

I too am having trouble with my parallel port zip drive. I'm using kernel
2.2.7 and get the same no device found message. The above line makes little
sense to me, it tells the kernel that the printer port is irq 0 and IO 378
and that the Zip is irq 7, io 278. Perhaps a more knowledgable linux person
could spread some light on the subject and help us.

I am running a RedHat 6.0 system using dhcp. I cannot seem to get the

route add default dev eth0
to add the refault route. I wanted to have this added automatically at
bootup. which file to I update to accomodate this?

What's the problem with them? I seem to remember having grave problems
when someone kept sending MS-TNEFs as attachments - but I don't think
there's a lot anyone can do about that - it's just another MS-specific
format :(

Subject: Apache with SSleay HELP!
Date: Wed, 30 Jun 1999 23:06:40 GMT
I'm having problems trying to install a SSL server with Apache 1.3.6.
I first started with SSLeay 0.9.0b however
came up with some errors even though I was able to compile and make
install. Upon doing a 'make test' eveyrthing
checked out except for a bunch of certificates at the end where it told
me I was missing 'certificates'. Im lost.
I also d/led the patch to interface SSleay with Apache but I also was
unable to install that properply as well.
HELP!@
After make, and make install I ran make test but it gave me errors at
the end. Need help. I also was supposed to
run './Configure' but all I got was an 'invalid filename or dir' so i
went straight to the make processes.
Everything compiled fine but when I tried to do a test this is what
happened:
This is with the actual SSLeay 0.9.0b components:

Afterwards I tried to path Apache and make it interface with SSLeay
which is what I thought I was supposed to do
but I had problems with running the script that was needed to patch
Apache. I tried changing around the default
paths, but no luck there. Whats my problem?
This is what the error is:
[root@mail ssleay]# perl FixPatch

Using the installed version of SSLeay found in /usr/local/ssl

explicitly.
Your version of patch is OK.
Do you want me to apply the fixed-up Apache-SSL patch for you? [n] y

Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:

I was led to believe that the patch should have run by itself. If not
what file am I supposed to point it to patch?
