its HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to have at minimum of 64Megs of RAM just to run X
windows. then on top of that you are running a JAVA based app. you are
asking too much from your system. buy some more RAM and that may help a lot.

My configuration is as follows:

Any Help would be GREATLY appreciated....

See the Boot Prompt HOWTO. Then read all the device drivers
in the kernel, since those are where all those input parameters go.
It'll be a big job, and a lot of folks will thank you for it.
and it'll require continuous maintenance, as new devices and
parameters are added.

Next time, take the advice in the LILO mini-HOWTO and make a floppy that
boots at hard drive speed.
Don't install LILO on your hard drive unless you know what you're doing,
you're sure it will work, and you can boot all your OSes by other means.
Don't let your OS distribution do it for you. They seldom get
it right.

Lilo is not the best boot program for everyone. Unfortunately,
the boot sequence is one place where Microsoft can mess with Linux,
through its control of the BIOS developers. Remember, Microsoft controls
the mass market PC industry. It was by their design that the 1024 cylinder
limit was left in for so long. I'm glad that era is finally past.

Hi ,
I have implemented RAID 0 successfully but the problem is that when I
reboot the machine it does not makes the RAID and I have to do mkraid
every time I boot the machine which causes the data loss. I could'nt
make2f normally rahter I have to do mkraid --really-force as otherwise
it gives me the error of ext2 Filesystem, it says that RAID cannot be
done because of ext2 filesystem (sorta this message). However when I use
--really-force option the RAID is implemented.
Please help me.
My /etc/raidtab looks like:

raiddev /dev/md0

I am using Linus RedHat 6.0 After doing mkraid I run mke2fs.

Of course. I tried that on another machine that had the very same
problem. I killed practically every process possible -- sshd, named,
inetd, smbd, innd, apache, postfix, etc. After all that, it still
showed "2 users".
Anyway, the problem seems to have solved itself on this machine. I
logged into it via telnet instead of ssh as I usually do, did nothing
and logged out, and the dead login immediately went away. Strange.

Mar 21 11:12:51 Merckx kernel: file_cluster badly computed!!! 23 <> 26
I noticed a lot of these in my /var/log/messages,
and a search turned up nothing but a lot of other people
with the same problem. I did find a snippet of old
driver code (from a patch to kernel 1.3 apparently!)
that suggested that it is a problem specific to the
vfat file system. Apparently the only consequence was that the
cluster involved would not be stored in the inode cache.
I haven't noticed any fs corruption, so it seems
benign.
Can anybody confirm, deny or otherwise shed light on
this problem? Check your /var/log/messages people, doesn't
everybody with a vfat file system mounted have this?
Please reply by email if you *really* know what's
going on -- I will be glad to summarize and submit it
to the FAQ.
Cheers,
jon

Hi there,
I'm using RedHat 6.0 with Sendmail.
As I want to collect some user-mailboxes in a single 'backup-box' I'm =
looking for a special (maybe simple) solution how I can catch all =
incoming and outgoing mails for a userbox and redirect them to this =
backup-box automatically.
The solution for incoming mails is simple, I just have to redirect all =
incoming mails for this user to the userbox and the backup-box. This can =
be managed in Linuxconf without any problems.
But I have no solution how I can catch an OUTGOING mail of the user and =
send a copy to the backup-box.
I don't want to let the user type in the cc: line in his email-program =
every time because the backup should be done automatically even if the =
user did not enter anything in the Cc: line of his email-program.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance

StarOffice is a huge monolithic program, and 32MB is really pushing the
bottom end as far as RAM is concerned (partiuclarly if you're using a
relatively heavy desktop environment like KDE).
I would suggest buying another 32MB of RAM.

(1) It's quite possible to run X with speed on a box much smaller than
64MB. It can be quite fast on a 16MB machine -- at least when properly
configured (using a lightweight window manager, etc).
(2) In any case, StarOffice is not (currently) written in Java.

it sounds like you ae trying to install it through expert mode, just go
into the graphical install and work from there, if that isn't working for
some reason then email me you probably have some other problem

it is looking for a disk you create by using the image files on the RedHat
CD, you can create this at a DOS prompt but you shouldn't need to if you
go into the graphical install mode

I don't know of any Microsoft operating system that can read linux
partitions.... there might be a program out there that will let you, but I
don't know of any.
and I doubt Microsoft will make there operating systems able to read linux
disks anytime soon, because they don't want to encourage people to use
