Yes. And amazing it is indeed.
My problem is this: If I look at a star, I can tell you where it comes
from (or at least I can learn so I can tell you); planets? All you
need is a couple of good supernovae; Microsoft programmers? According
to Mr Darwin, it takes nothing more than some handy instable molecules
and a couple of billions of years of evolution.
But if I ask you: "Where does the universe come from?", what, pray,
will be your reply?

Does that follow from what I wrote? If so, allow me to rephrase: What
I meant was that if someone is prepared to accept the existence of the
universe without question, that this person is essentially doing the
same as someone who is prepared to accept the existence of God without
question.

Be careful not to confuse the belief in God with the belief in a
superior ethical system. If I were to believe that God created the
universe, that does not automatically mean that I believe that He has
given me the right to judge the rest of mankind.

Just to follow up on this, in case anyone else is having similar
problems. From the account that was having the at queue problems,
I scheduled a script in the "a", "b" and "c" queues. The script
in the "b" queue failed to execute when its time came, but the
other two did. Not knowing what else to do, I rebooted the
computer. Now the "b" queue works fine again.

Hi,
I have a RH 6.x system and I'd like to add USB support. I found the
kernel-2.2.17-14 rpm on rpmfind and that seems to work even though on
installation it complains about a missing cpia_usb.o module. However,
there is no kernel-header rpm which is needed for VMware to be installed
on the new kernel. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me to where
I can find an appropriate header rpm (and also the missing module) and
to any HOWTO on using USB ZIP drives.
Thanks much.

Hello,
if your working bttv card has a working video input, I
would suggest getting a Sony CCX-Z77E color vide camera.
I have one, it makes really great pictures (640x480) and was not
that expensive (229,- DM don't know in $), its much better than any
of those USB and other webcams I saw.

Well, current theories say that it is a quantum happening that
underwent a period of rapid inflation that managed to disentangle
the major forces before it could pop back out of existence again.
Roughly. Estimates are that we're about 10 years off the next theory
of everything.

I'm having problems with getting my sound card working....
I'm running RH7.0. I installed a SoundBlaster 16 PCI.
First I scanned these newsgroups, and didn't find any problems *just
like mine*. But i did find some clues....
First I tried sndconfig... It said I had an Ensoniq sound card that's
not supported.
Next I tried sndconfig with "--noprobe --noautoconfig" options. I told
it I had a SoundBlaster 16. It modifies /etc/modules.conf. But when it
tries to install the modules it give me some errors.
I believe I'm at the point where I don't have IRQs and IOs configured
correctly. And I'm not sure what they're supposed to be....
I have attached:
/etc/modules.conf (as it is currently.)
The proper part of /var/log/boot.log file.
and a capture of /proc/pci
How do I configure my sound card? Where do I get the appropriate info
and how do I interpret it? So I get then put what information into
modules.conf?
Thanks:

Subject: WEB BROWSERS what is available
Date: Fri, 9 Feb 2001 23:12:26 -0000
I've been looking at web browsers for linux for the first time recently and
wonder what is available, and what is the best in terms of the following
criteria:
efficiency
speed
compatibility
expandability
free & open source
I want a browser that is VERY small (<4-500kb), efficient with memory and
bandwidth, compatible with as much of th recent developments in
HTML/java/scripting, runs under X11 but only uses basic Xlibs, AND most
importantly is expandable would be nice if it could pipe out unrecognised
markup to other tools for processing (pipe out java script, style sheets,
tables, frames, swallow other programs within the browser window
(XReparentWindow), etc.......). I've had a brief look at arena, netscape,
amaya, chimera. and found them all wrong in some way. I did like the look of
chimera in terms of it's simplicity, compactness and the fact it worked on a
standard X11 dist, but it is incompatible with most modern bloated web
sites. Is anyone still developing this browser(the dist on sunsite is a few
yrs old), is anyone developing anything similarly small and standard with
HTML4 compatibility. I had a brief look at the code and wondered whether it
was worth trying to hack it about but I thought i'd check to see if anyone
else is developing the sort of thing i'm looking for?
Anyways I hope i'm not just talking dribble to myself and taking up too much
valuable bandwidth, anyones comments, info, advice welcome
thanx in advance

I suppose your right, we are at an ipasse.
It's kind of fasinating however that the dictionary defines "belief"
in part as an "opinion or conviction".
You apparently say, "If I agree, I believe. If I dissagree, I have no
opinion or conviction on the subject".
What is the process you go through when you first hear the claim, but
have not yet rendered an opinion (belief)?

You can buy a pci-card with usb ports on. Or a pcmcia card. USB cameras
look to be where the market is at.
There are also parallel port cameras - but harder to get hold of. Only
a very few are supported.

I have both a tv card and a usb camera. I don't see why you need to
dump anything.

Any camera with an output to a tv input should be fine! But expensive.

If you can get it. 229DM is about twice the price of the camera I was
