2.4 hasn't quite stabilized yet and people can't trust it. So they
continue to provide updates for the 2.2 line. You can even still find
people working on 2.0 even now. Work on that has pretty much stopped.
People just want updates for the current "stable" kernel.

That is a problem for text files because most laser printers cannot print
all the way to the edge of the page (I also have HP4L). See if 'man pr'
shows you anything, or install it. I use the following for printing from
pine, but cannot figure out how to avoid having it spit out an extra page
(-T sucks up form feeds, but also the desired header space):
pr -F -h "" -l 60 -o 3 | lpr

You might also have printfilters that automagically use gs when required
(or print plain text when not).

Agree! "The Dancing Wu Li Masters" by Gary Zukav is a great
intro into quantum mechanics. One of my 2nd year physics profs
recommended it. A must read for the budding philosopher.

secnews.netscape.com (secure) / Communicator for Unix or
netscape.communicator.unix
I think you have to get there through some tortuous path on the netscape
site, but it's been so long I can't remember. I'll check with me when I
resume consciousness.
Lord. I haven't been to the netscape site for a LONG time, and I'm kind of
disgusted with what I found. Not the newsgroups, at any rate, or much at
all about Netscape. Did you know that they'll answer a Netscape question
for $29? Lots of shopping opportunities. Do people really go to
Netscape's site to check out the selections at Amazon and Victoria's
Secret? Makes me almost want to switch to IE, except I know that M$ is
worse.
Just try adding the secnews.netscape.com (secure) news server. Jeez, it's
like forgetting the secret handshake.

do try to be extremely careful when doing irrevocable things, though. DOS

Not really, your intentions are good :-)
Consider a related problem: You need to put some stuff away, but you don't
have any place to put the stuff until you clean out the back closet, and
you can't do that until you find a place to put the closet stuff, and you
can't do that until you clear out the spare room and that's full of
hand-built furniture that's too big to get out the door...

Actually, it's the other way around...a lot of people with a

Republicans would sooner sign up with the Jackass party before

Subject: Fix corrupted filesystem?
Date: Sat, 17 Feb 2001 07:47:11 GMT
Hi all,
My filesystem got a bit corrupted from a system crash. Now when I boot it
up, some symlinks show up as orphaned symlinks, pointing to missing files.
However, I can see the actual files when I do a 'ls'. I tried deleting the
links and recreating them, but it doesn't help (still shows up as missing).
I've tried running fsck, but it didn't recover any files into lost+found.
What should I do?
I did an 'rpm -Va' to check my files (thanks Mike for the advice). Some
files show up as failing MD5 checksum. Does that mean those files are
corrupted? Can I fix them?
Thanks.

Hello,
of course has Linux an app to do this, you don't need to download/install
something, everything
should be on your box.
MTU == Maximum Transfer Unit of an interface
The max size of IP packets that go through the specified interface
ifconfig
Shows your settings, you can change it with ifconfig too.
man ifconfig
explains howto do this, I'm a bit in doubt that this will help, but as your ISP
suggests
it, I would try it out.
Good luck

The Cosmic Code is another one I would recommend.
Although i was already well-initiated into quantum physics by the
time I read it...it does a VERY good job of explaining it in a
way that is less-weird than most q.m. explanations.
