why don't you try the following:

ls *.c |awk -F. '{print $1}' | xargs -i -t mv {}.c {}.C

I'm having a problem with SUN JDK2 1.3.1. I don't do that much
programming my self but i would like to run java programs. Example with
the JavaVis.jar from www.distibuted,net:
$ java -jar JavaVis.jar
I get:
Font specified in font.properties not found
[--symbol-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific]
(20 times)
I get the same when i try to run some(but not all) of the programs that
come with the SUN JDK2 package.
I'm on a RH 7.0, kernel 2.4.4
Where did i f*** up??

Has anybody succeded in connecting Nokia 6210 with gnokii
thru irda port?

It works for me with minicom on ircomm driver.
But gnokii howto say not to use linux-irda.

My irda is connected to PC (not notebook) to connector on
the mainboard. Should I use linux-irda drivers?
Sholud I use irattach? Or maybe I have to use raw tty port
where irda is connected (ttyS1)?
What model should I use in gnokii configuration?

Thanks in advance

You may have lost /sbin/mingetty or /bin/login. At the lilo prompt try
linux 5. X have it's own login program(hopefully X works). Then download
the appropiate packages from www.rpmfind.net, install and boot.

With that new levy, you're allowed to make a personal copy of anything
you can get your hands on. So you could borrow a CD from a friend or
the library etc., and make your own.

There are a number of excellent hardware solutions. In addition, if you hit
freshmeat.net you can find a few software based solutions. For one, I know
that there is a PPTP implementation for Linux floating around. Of course,
PPTP has a few problems, so evaluate it first.

Using PPP you can more or less use each SSH peer as a gateway to it's own
network. Doing this you can create a VPN between two networks or two clients.

The existing replies are all partly correct, but non-optimal. Chances
are your problem is that you've got one or more extended/logical Linux
partitions, which DOS's FDISK will NOT touch. (DOS's FDISK WILL delete
primary Linux partitions, though.) The simplest way to recover this
space is to boot into your Linux installer and use its disk partitioning
software to delete THOSE partitions ONLY, leaving your primary Windows
partition intact. You can then use the DOS/Windows FDISK to create one
or more FAT partitions in place of the deleted partitions. This process
will leave your working Windows system bootable, and you'll then be able
to access the recovered space with a new drive letter (probably D:).

If you must have a single contiguous C: partition for the entire 20GB
disk, you'll need to either wipe out all the partitions or using a
dynamic partition resizing tool like PartitionMagic
(http://www.powerquest.com) or the Ranish Partition Manager
(http://www.users.intercom.com/~ranish/part/). I know that
PartitionMagic can handle the deletion of Linux partitions, but I don't
know if Ranish Partition Manager can (my guess is it can, though).
Before you resize C:, back it up, or at least back up any irreplaceable
data it contains. Although most partition resize operations with tools
like these proceed smoothly, sometimes they mess up VERY badly, losing
all data on the partition.

I am able to create a bootable NT partition by creating the FAT16 partitions
and formatting them under NT's disk administrator . I can then use Linux to
tar the NT files onto this partition. It then boots and works as expected.

If I create the FAT16 partitions with fdisk under Linux and run mkdosfs, I
find that the partitions are not bootable. In fact, I am unable to boot
even see these partitions under NT!

How can I do everything under Linux? This is for a diskonchip application.

Thank you.

It boots?
You cannot boot from an empty partition.

Duh.
There's nothing on them, just a filesystem.
Ofcourse they aren't bootable.
I don't know what you want to achieve.

Then you must be doing something wrong.

"rpm -i" installs a rpm package. "rpm -U" upgrades/installs. To build a
rpm package, you use "rpm -b" or "rpm -t" (build from tarball).

Insert a CD of RH 7.1 and select "upgrade existing system" in the

When I switch the camera to pc mode I see the following in my

kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1 assigned device number

Is there a problem with my linux setup? Also s10sh doesn't recognize

Hi, Group!

I keep having those recurring (day)dreams where I use ssh-add for
authentication during my initial login to a local system.
Somehow, ssh-agent would be the parent of the login process (would that
work / would it make sense?).
I would then enter the passphrase for my default identity and have this
identity added to the agent as well as getting myself authenticated.
I guess this would be a PAM plugin. I'm not sure whether this makes any
sense at all; seems that ssh-add wouldn't know which identity to
authenticate against - since I wouldn't be logged in yet.
Could anyone imagine a way of doing something like that? Has it been done
already?

TIA,

I found a solution!

Create the partition on NT. Go into linux. Then dd the partition to a
file.

When you want to create a new bootable linux partition, just dd the file
back to the partition.

Thanks to all who pondered upon this problem.
