What is the highest kernel version that you can run ipchains on? I run it
right now on 2.2.5-15. It is also included on a Redhat 6.2 CD that I have,
in RPMS, along with kernel 2.2.14-5.0. However when I upgrade to kernel
2.2.19 I get the message that it is not supported.
Does anyone know the specific kernel version that it stops at?
Tom.

I'm not sure if I understood what you mean?
One mailbox - multiple user?
multiple malibox - multiple user? (fetchmail can do this)
Perhaps checking virtusertable/aliases sendmail uses, could do what you
want.
Another option is to use procmail, by setting up .procmailrc.

my favorites are those pages that run something like:
SYNOPSIS
#include <sys/foo.h>
struct foo *bar(foo_t blivit, struct baz *blavit);
and leave finding the struct declarations as a homework assignment for the
luser. Of course, they
aren't declared in sys/foo.h.

Not a fix, but a workaround. Try pressing CTRL+ALT+Backspace when it
freezes. That should restart X and bring you back to the login prompt.

Is should run on all 2.2 Kernels.
On 2.4 kernel it doesn't run as far as I know.
I'm using kernel 2.2.19 and ipchains runs without errors.

Sounds like a man page from section 3.
from 'man man'...:-)
3 Library calls (functions within system libraries)
Surely not intended for the luser you mean, more for someone

2.4.x uses iptables, but contains ipchains backwards compatible modules.

It can be used in the 2.2 and 2.4 kernels. In 2.4 iptables with
ipchains support has to be enabled. Then the module has to be loaded
in (e.g.) /etc/rc.d/rc.local (modprobe ipchains).

A KDat "formatted" tape is simply a tape with a very small header "file" as the
first file on the tape; like a Magic Number of a .GIF file, this allows KDat
to know that 1) This is a tape it knows how to read, and 2) The ID number of
the tape, so it can pull up the tape index from disk.
Load the tape in the drive, and assuming you use /dev/[n]st0 to read, issue:
mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
mt -f /dev/nst0 fsf
..and then you should be able to pull the archives off with tar, like
tar xvf /dev/nst0
Using nst0 instead of st0 keeps the drive from rewinding the tape every time
you finish a command, so that you can skip the header, and then yank each
tarball off one at a time. You could also use 't' on tar to just get a list
of the files in the archive (tar tvf /dev/nst0), but when its done you'll have
to use mt to get the tape positioned again to either untar that archive or move
to the next one.

Hullo,
Hardware:
Supermicro 370DE6, 1x 1GHz PIIIs
Adaptec 2490U2W
Tekram DC-390U3D
Mandrake 8.0 has been hanging on me just after "Select Installation Type",
which is where it attempts to find your scsi cards, I believe. It hangs for
both the above cards at the same place. Doing a text install shows
(checking virt term 3) that it is hanging at or immediately after an insmod
of parport_pc.o
I have flashed the BIOS on the MB and both SCSI cards: no difference.
I have also used expert mode and selected the proper drivers, it still hangs
at the same spot. Is there some way to disable the scsi probing?
Tried alternate boot disks (kernel 2.2.14 and 2.2.19): no difference.
By the way, here is the puncher: This install USED to work, with the same
hardware. I was attempting a fresh installation after having installed 8.0
for test purposes. On the second time around, all the above garbage sets
in.
Sound familiar to anyone?
