www.linuxdoc.org goto the Guides section & find a couple of guides on
the kernel.

This is a grey area, because it also depends on the other hardware in your
system:
hard drive speed, memory, video card, sound card, CPU type and speed, DMA
ability, etc....FOr your situation I highly recommend just buying a drive
and MPEG2 card together like a Creative Encore kit or H+ kit.

Running RedHat Linux 7.1 (2.4.5)
Monitor: ViewSonic P815
Video Card: Diamond Stealth (S3 Savage 2000)

When running Xconfigurator to set my pc to use 1600x1200 (which is
supported by my monitor
and video card), the screen appears huge and stretched out - I only see
the upper left-ha
nd portion of the desktop, but it is all warped like someone grabbed it
and stretched it.
1280x1024 displays fine. Any idea on how to get 1600x1200 to display
correctly?

Thanks,

P
