And it can use a few gigabytes.  DOS has trouble with that much.

Our three-monthly product price update used to take four hours under
DOS.  That could be a real bitch, especially at Christmas, because we
would usually end up doing it again and again until we'd weeded out
most of the little surprises that our suppliers put in there for us.

Last Christmas under Linux it took 1 minute 28 seconds.
