Vox,

The difference between a softlink and a hardlink will show up in
the inode numbers. The two files in a hardlink use identical indoe
numbers. The files in a softlink have different inodes. An 'ls -i' should
show you the inode numbers of files.

In order to change the link, you need to remove the link (not the
file that is linked from, but the file that is linked to!). You then need
to recreate the link using 'ln'. If 'a' is the original file, and 'b' is
the link to it, you need to do 'ln -s a b'.

As regards your gpm problem, I must say that I dont understand it.
However, does your mouse work correctly before you start up X? I am
hypothesising that your problem may be due to the fact that you are
starting gpm from within an Xsession (logic tells me that it shouldnt
matter - but try it anyway).

Regards,
Jor-el

There is no such thing as luck. 'Luck' is nothing but an absence of bad luck.
