-> I guess you are right. If any other kernel does not give the error
message ..... This will sound stupid, but have you installed
STANDARD/GENERIC SERIAL DEVICE SUPPORT in the kernel config when you
recompiled? Or you may need to create a new /dev  entry for the new kernel
with regards to using your modem.
