I've done as you suggested. I recompiled 2.4.20-pre11 without SMP support. Without SMP and with the duo connect card still in the machine... it still locked up. I then removed the card (duo connect) and tested it again. On the first copy attempt it quit sending data to the drive after about 15GB. My machine did not lock up but I couldn't access the external drive anymore and my machine would not reboot (I had to hit the reset switch). On the second attempt the same thing happened but not until after I copied almost 60Gb of data to the drive. When I had both cards in the machine - I never experienced the problem where it quit sending data to the drive (or the drive quit responding whichever). Although that could just be because my machine kept locking up before it ever got to that point. Your point about the Hint PCI bridge is interesting because I do have problems capturing video via firewire (dv packets get lost) if I load the usb-ohci module. Thats why I currently have 2 usb host controllers in my machine. As long as I don't connect my usb 2.0 hub to the duo connect card and I only load the ehci-hcd module - everything works fine. Just to make sure its not a hardware problem I did try capturing dv under winblows. Everything works fine there. I haven't tried my usb enclosure under winblows yet... that may be next on my list. Anyways, I would greatly appreciate any ideas you have about the usb hard drive enclosure or why all combinations of usb and firewire on my duo connect card under winblows works and I have problems under linux. -Angel ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
