Plugged hub directly into PC: hub is visible, but no attached devices.

used rmmod ehci_hcd, then plugged philips hub directly into the PC: hub 
visible, but no attached devices. Kernel message now come uhci_hcd

Tried to change bios setting to full speed, but linux ignores this. 

After reset, the bios recognises the sandisk device attached to the philips 
hub.
