I havent tried X10 Control, but there is a good amount of software for driving it on http://www.linux.org/ in there applications area.
Alternatively if you have a DIN-Rail distribution board with lots of space left then there are some good DIN-Rail based systems avaliable and I am working on some MSLP & DMX-512 DIN-Rail dimmers and switches plus the Linux software to drive them (Wont be avaliable until next year) see http://www.slavelighting.com for my stuff.
