Here's a quick summary of my experience with x10 stuff.  It was pretty
handy and relatively reliable.  Noise was a bit of a problem, but that's
what happens in a cheap apartment with an elevator nearby.  The big
problem I ran into was using a socket controller on a sunken light.  The
sunken surface reflected a lot of heat back to the controller, which
succumbed to the temptation to melt.  When the controller failed to shut
the light off, I turned it off at the switch.  This allowed the melted
plastic to cool and break the glass.

The whole think looked really cool after the fact, but I spent a lot of
time looking for glass shards in the carpet under the light.

You should probably double check the current specs, too.  I recall them
being kinda low (300mA, I think).
