Tell me why (after > reading the page that you referred to that does not contain any > justification for paying more for a driver than for a separate modem > with free drivers) Their justification is that the Connexant chip manufacturers do not see a large enough Linux market to justify expending the money to develop a driver for their chips in order to give the code away for free.

I certainly don't think that! My own albeit somewhat limited exp. with connexant modems and the linuxant drivers has been a happy one. On the other hand my exp. with a single lt modem a while ago left a bit more than just 'something' to be desired. I got it to go eventually, whereas the linuxant/connexant combo was up and running in about 10 mins. If my time was chargeable, the cost to the customer would have been far less for setting up the linuxant/connexant combo, because although it costs, it just works. I do not have a philosophical problem with people earning reasonable money for their efforts, provided the end results actually work properly. Note however that imnsho there are many products and companies with which I have deep and serious philosophical problems. -- Sincerely etc. Christopher Sawtell NB. This PC runs Linux. If you find a virus apparently from me, it has forged the e-mail headers on someone else's machine. Please do not notify me when this occurs. Thanks.
