Although it is an interesting read anyhow, the relevant information is
Section "InputDevice" Identifier "TouchPad Mouse" Driver "mouse" Option "CorePointer" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection
Which should be in your /etc/X11/XFConfig file.

Still researching... The laptop specs are @ http://216.239.57.104/search?q=cache:gGl0BWJWmf4J:www.nec-online.nl/library/ Library_Download.asp%3Fid%3D145+NEC+Versa+C160+specifications&hl=en
For "Pointing device" it says: "Glide Pad with 2 buttons, and 2-direction scroll button". And also having two "Shortcut buttons"... for "Internet and e-mail..." (in W#$%dows they are configured for whichever email client and internet browser are set as "default"... :$ It's, basically, a regular touchpad... with regular left and right buttons... but with a scroll button in between... :$ Yes, that scroll button is not working in SuSE, although when pressed to scroll down, it acts like a regular middle mouse button, and brings up a menu... :$ Hmm... Already checked the device in SuSE, and it just reads it as a regular PS/2 mouse... (nothing to do with Alps in there at all). :( In W#$%dows "Mouse Properties" the name there under "Hardware" is "NX PAD" (manufacturer being NEC)... Ref. http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=37541 :$ Will keep googlin'... :| So far found... http://compass.com/synaptics/ and http://list.driverguide.com/list/LINUX/index.html
Anybody out there ever figured/configured such a mouse? All help is appreciated... :) Seems to be quite a new addition to touchpads... (the middle scroll button). :$ "Where there is a will, there is a way." ;) Yes, patience... :|

1. what is the problem with the touchpad? is it that scrolling is not
working? go to Sax2 (in the system menu i think, near where yast is) and
choose input devices and mouse - what is it set up as and can you see
any alternatives that better fit what your mouse device is? i don't
think synaptics is the right one, is imwheel there? it might be right
for an alps glidepad.
