Keep in mind the basic Unix principle (which mozilla mail etc are
violating), from the top of the kmail help page:
KMail doesn't have a built-in spam detection solution: the
developers believe using external, but specialized, tools is the
better approach. KMail uses these tools through its flexible
filter architecture. The Anti-Spam Wizard helps you with the
initial filter setup.
So there are 2 issues: configure spamassasin, and configure kmail filter
rules to react to spamassassin's filtering.
Spamassassin's filtering adds extra header lines to emails which give
the result of its classification. You're reading these headers in the
kmail filtering. You should not need to configure spamassassin any
further, it is functionally configured out of the box. You can always
tweak but don't have to. Spamassassin has a learning function - if it
gets a classification wrong, you can tell it so and it'll do better next
time.
Obviously the emails somehow sometime have to go through spamassassin.
The way I read it, kmail runs emails through spamassasin and acts on the
results. The wizzard should set this up. You can inspect the filter
rules the wizzard has created in the filter config. You can also have
the wizzard create icons which feed emails back to spamassassin for
learning as ham/spam. The kmail help is pretty good here.
What exactly doesn't work? Are emails not going through spamassassin? In
this case the kmail filter rules will obviously do nothing. You can
check for the SA header lines by pressing v on any email in kmail's message
index window and looking for lines starting with X-Spam- towards the end
of the header lines (the block of text at the top of the window).
