A long story

I have my cousins computer here, it is meant to run winXP home addition. Theres some strange things going on with it : Cant get into Outlook Express because it keeps asking for an idenity, but it wont allow you to create one. Trying to install winzip but the best that I can get is having to re-install it over and over. Setting desktop icons makes no difference (nothing changes).   So here is the *nix question : I tried running Damn Small Linux live cd and it immediately comes up with an error : Only one processor found.   I find much of what Linux based OS's do kinda back the front, so is it actually reporting an error because if it is it would explain much of the problems with the comp.   Thanks guys
